The company I found are Manchester based Quicksilver SFX and are at the heart of the North West’s TV and film industry.

Quicksilver have been creating brilliant effects safely for almost 15 years on a wide variety of productions, including Life on Mars, Cutting It, Coronation Street, The Royal, Shameless and Hollyoaks.
Some of they're work include liquidised goldfish (no real fish were harmed in the making of course), created exploding sewer pipes and a fake canal lock complete with thousands of litres of safe, green slimy water. The y also created Emmerdale Storm as part of the siege episode involved more than just torrential rain. 4000 Litre tip tanks were used to break through a section of walls to create a river breaking its banks, drains exploded and buildings.
